Kowloon Brigade Headquarters rang up and stated that preparations were apparently being made to evacuate Brigade Headquarters, that the position seemed ser- ious but that he could not obtain any instructions. The Senior Superintendent of Police, Kowloon and Chief Inspector Smith in turn tried to get into touch with both Brigade and Command Headquarters without success several times.
